Overview

Our Hunter Valley winery in Pokolbin Parish, built in the 1960s as the original Hungerford Hill site, combines decades of tradition with a boutique, hands-on approach. Home to McGuigan and Tempus Two operations, it’s renowned for crafting internationally recognised wines, including its iconic Semillon. The Hunter Valley’s warm, Mediterranean-like climate, moderated by Pacific Ocean breezes, ensures ideal growing conditions.

Fruit from 30-year-old vines at the Hunter Ridge Vineyard is harvested early each January, pressed, and cold-settled in stainless steel tanks. Meticulous winemaking, including light fining and early bottling, preserves the wine’s freshness and vibrant character.

Tasting Notes

Aroma

Bright citrus notes showing lemon meringue and key lime with hints of chamomile tea and a subtle beeswax on the finish.

Palate

Palate shows a classic Hunter Valley Semillon structure with a bight crisp acid line complimented with a tight minerality finish. Carrying on from the nose, we see notes of ripe citrus – finger lime and old-style lemonade, chamomile tea along with notes of salinity and beeswax. This wine is balances between the bright refreshing acid and the fruit complexity and intensity.
